A local illustrator and former student of an Espanola school has made a limited edition of plaques featuring the former AB Ellis Public School.
Bill Leeney says he has been able to design 27 laser etched plaques made from wood he recovered from the demolition site of the former school in January of last year.
The plaques feature an original illustration designed and signed by Leeney.
The school opened in September 1919 as the Espanola Continuation School, then Espanola Public and then renamed AB Ellis Public in memory of long-time principal, Andy Ellis.
It was demolished last year with part of the grounds turned into a parking lot, and a green space that is still in the designing stages.
Students now share half the space at Espanola High.
