Gore Bay man convicted on animal cruelty charges

A Manitoulin man has been fined $6,000 and will spend 30 days in jail after being convicted on animal cruelty charges.  David Pryor also can’t own livestock, including horses for 15 years.  Pryor, who lives in Gore Bay, was charged in April 2013, after the Ontario SPCA found horses in a distressed state while under his care.  The month before, the association told Pryor to provide care for the horses including food and water.  When the SPCA followed up in April, it found Pryor ignored its orders.  The association removed three stallions and six mares from the property and Pryor was charged with several offenses including causing distress to animals.
