One person has been arrested and charged following a road rage incident on Highway 17.

Manitoulin OPP Constable Jessica Gilbertson says last Friday evening, police officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon on Highway 17 in Nairn-Hyman Township.

She says the investigation revealed two vehicles had been involved in a road rage incident and stopped at the same truck stop where one driver brandished a knife and lunged at the other driver after being confronted.

Gilbertson says police were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the driver, a 38-year-old from Sudbury, who is charged with one count each of possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon, illegal plates and following a commercial vehicle too closely.

She adds the accuses is to appear in Espanola court on May 6th.
