Laurentian University offering credit monitoring service to those affected in data breach

Laurentian University confirms there was a limited data breach after a cyber incident in February.
Officials with the school say the data theft affects some individuals associated with the Living with Lakes Centre / Co-operative Freshwater Ecology Unit and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, including employees, students and more.
While an investigation to see what exactly was exposed will take months, Laurentian says they’ll provide a no-cost two-year credit monitoring service to all those who are affected. That information will come from the school via e-mail.
They also ask any undergraduate medical student and postgraduate resident of NOSM (naw-SUM) who entered the program from 2005 to 2019 to contact them.
Officials say if you believe you are part of the affected groups listed above, you can email them at [email protected] or call 705-675-1151 x 90100 as a dedicated phone line will be set-up by Monday, March 11, 2024.
