March 14, 2020, saw the shutdown of all recreational facilities in Elliot Lake, ushering in COVID-19 measures that brought challenges for many.
DiversityCanada Foundation executive director Celia Sankar says four years later, residents of Elliot Lake and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to gather and reflect on those experiences.
She says on Friday, March 15th, they will be hosting an online discussion at 2: 30 pm for Algoma residents focusing on the pandemic, how the area has emerged from it and the ongoing challenges many still face.
She adds that by talking things out, people can help themselves and others process what they have been through and assist in navigating challenges that exist today.
Sankar says the event is part of the “Joy Project,” an initiative by DiversityCanada to bring residents together.
The project is supported by the “GSC Community Impact Fund: Creating Communities of Care for Algoma,” administered by the Algoma Community Foundation and with financial support from Green Shield Canada.
