Headway made on national strategy for rare earth elements

The company that hopes to mine rare earth elements in Elliot Lake is pleased that the feds are studying these types of metals.  A few months ago Pele Mountain president Al Shefsky told federal officials Canada should create its own supply chain of the elements.  Shefsky says the feds are now studying the economic importance of rare earth elements.   The elements are used in a variety of everyday items and Canada has world-class deposits of these ores including ones in Elliot Lake.  Shefsky wants a national supply chain of rare earth elements developed within the next three to five years.
