A Northern Ontario lobby group claims a Bill making its way through the Ontario Legislature will hurt northern industries. And the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities wants Bill 52 amended. The Bill allows all groups to make claims without fear of reprisals when they’re wrong. But FONOM says environmental groups with deep pockets that oppose industries, like forestry in the north, will hurt the north. FONOM says this sector continually spreads misinformation ab out the north’s forestry. It wants Bill 52 to include a provision where an expert would review any comments before they’re released to ensure any claim is accurate.
