When it comes to a carbon tax, the Green Party would introduce a cap and dividend. Calvin John Orok of Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing says the proposal would force the highest polluters to pay. Orok says the money would amount to $22 billion and the Green Party has a specific group in mind to receive the divided. He says it’s Canadians 18 and over. Orok says Canadians would get the dividend because polluters will jack up their prices once they face pollution penalties and those increases will get passed on to consumers. He says the dividend will offset the increases hitting consumers. Also running in the riding are Heather Wilson of the Liberals, Andre Robichaud on behalf the Tories and New Democrat Carol Hughes.
