Recycling centre closing at Sand Bay Camp, Hyman residents to use landfill

Residents of Hyman Township will have another alternative for disposing of recycled goods.  Nairn & Hyman Township‘s contract with Sand Bay Camp ends December 31st, so council has approved an alternative.

According to the release, as of the end of the year, Hyman residents will be able to access the landfill to dispose of their recyclables.

During the winter, the landfill will be open Saturdays and Wednesdays from eight a.m. to noon, and during the summer, Sundays from 12 noon until six p.m., and Wednesdays eight a.m. to noon.

Glass is not collected through the recycling program, so users are asked to dispose of it in their regular household garbage.

Cardboard is recyclable but must be broken down and flattened for disposal.

The township also points out residents who do not receive regular garbage pickup, can dispose of the recyclables at the depot.
