Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha says he is proud to acknowledge the work done by Queen Elizabeth the Second during her long reign.
He says the Ontario government unveiled a new monument to the Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who made significant contributions to the governing institutions of Canada throughout her life.
He adds as the longest-serving Head of State, she spent 70 years serving the public and was a presence in the lives of generations of Canadians adding the monument gives Ontarians an opportunity to reflect on Queen Elizabeth II’s place in our country’s history.
The statue is located next to the Visitors’ entrance at the Legislative Building at Queen’s Park.
The statue features Her Late Majesty holding maple leaves to represent the Canadian provinces and territories. The statue was first commissioned in 2016 by a group of private volunteers after receiving approval from Her Late Majesty to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation.
