During question period Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha called on the Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, to pass his bill to fix the Northern Health Travel Grant.
Mantha says Northerners rely on the grant to make sure no one is denied the care they need because of the costs but his office is constantly hearing from constituents who are waiting weeks to be reimbursed for some of the travel and accommodation.
Mantha reintroduced bill in August of last year, which, if passed, would create a committee to study the program for areas to improve, such as the amount of compensation, the time between applying and receiving the grant, and simplifying the application process.
