Thermometer erected to mark ongoing oncology expansion project

A thermometer was erected for the oncology expansion project at the St. Joseph’s General Hospital on Monday.

According to the hospital foundation, the total cost of the project is $1.2 million. The foundation has committed $700,000 and the remainder will be coming from the Ministry of Health and the hospital.

This project is to help eliminate people having to travel to Sudbury or Sault Ste. Marie for their chemotherapy treatments.

So far $75,000 has been raised with funds coming from the the 50-50 draw and donations made from the Wendell Farquhar Trucking Golf Tournament, the beta sigma phi sorority, and the Elliot Lake Lions Club as well as some estate donations.
