Sandvik contribution to Cambrian’s Battery Electric Vehicle Lab

Cambrian College has just received equipment and direct support from Sandvik, a global leading supplier for the mining and construction industries.

Kristine Morrissey, President of Cambrian College says the support includes an A4 Battery Operated Loader with an associated battery pack assembly and charger, as well as four battery modules to support training.

She adds Sandvik has also contributed to the College’s new Battery Electric Vehicle Lab, which is currently under construction and located within the College’s Centre for Smart Mining.

Morrissey explains the BEV Lab is a 5,600 square-foot facility that will house cutting edge equipment that will generate critical data on the performance characteristics of BEVs as the mining industry continues to incorporate them into the sector.

She adds construction is slated for completion for the Fall of 2023 and in recognition of the contribution, Sandvik will be commemorated in the Glencore Centre for Innovation’s Innovation Room, which will now be known as the Sandvik Innovation Room.
