It will cost a few dollars, but a recycling pilot project could be a great investment according to the Municipality of Central Manitoulin.
The municipality is launching the FoodCycler initiative for residents with registrations now open for a 12-week pilot program that offers the opportunity to test out the machines in their own home.
FoodCycler machines are a counter-top, on-site composting alternative that help divert organic waste from the landfill.
The municipality has 100 units with two sizes available: two-point-five litre or a new five-litre unit. The smaller size is available at $150, the larger at $300 plus tax.
