Winter storm warning issued for the area

Mother Nature has apparently decided March will go out like a lion this year instead of a lamb.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the area for Friday night into Saturday morning.

The weather agency says snowfall accumulations up to 15-30 cm are possible with peak snowfall rates up to 8 cm/hr.

Officials say a first wave of snow will fall during the day, with a brief break in the evening before a second and much stronger system moves in Friday night, bringing heavy and blowing snow.

Snow may mix with ice pellets or freezing rain at times Friday night.
