Elliot Lake Amateur Theatre Ensemble returns to the stage

An award-winning Elliot Lake theatre troupe will return to the stage following a roof collapse that destroyed a local theatre and the pandemic.

Elliot Lake Amateur Theatre Ensemble president David Black says the upcoming play will be the first performance in over three years with the play April Foolery on April 21, 22, 28 and 29.

He says the troupe lost their theatre space in February 2019 when the former Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre suffered a roof collapse that led to its demolition, and then the arrival of the pandemic.

Black says the new performances will be staged in the Elliot Lake Secondary School Drama room, a much smaller venue, which means only 60 advance tickets will be sold for each show.

Black says they will include short comic sketches and special performances by Jim Graham and Mark Robinson under the direction of Murray Finn.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at Alpine Flowers and Gifts in the Paris Plaza. Tickets are $15 each (cash only).
