Elliot Lake facilities cleared of COVID declarations

Two of Elliot Lake’s healthcare facilities have been cleared of COVID restrictions.

Algoma Public Health has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak on the first floor at St. Joseph’s General Hospital and at The Oaks Centre, according to CEO Jeremy Stevenson.

He adds the third floor of the hospital was also given the all-clear last week.

He says visitor restrictions remain in place however in the hospital’s acute care wing with only essential caregivers allowed or visits on compassionate grounds.

The lifting of the declarations took place yesterday.
