Tourism advocate up for a national award

A tourist advocate on Manitoulin Island is one of the nominees for a national award from The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC).

ITAC CEO and president Keith Henry says the national organization represents the interests of Indigenous tourism operators from coast to coast.

He adds Luke Wassegijig, the manager of Wikwemikong Tourism, is one of the nominees for the Original Award for Exceptional Industry Leadership.

Henry says it was inspiring to see so many nominations this year, over 60 in all, representing such a diverse group of Indigenous operators in Canada.

He adds the awards gala will be held in conjunction with Indigenous Tourism Manitoba in Winnipeg on March 9th.
