Arrest made in connection to Manitoulin Island murder

According to the Manitoulin OPP, another arrest has been made in connection to an ongoing murder investigation on Manitoulin Island.

Constable Jessica Gilbertson says OPP has made another arrest in their continuing investigation into the shooting death of Brandon Brooks who died in the April 5, 2022 shooting incident on M’Chigeeng First Nation.

She says earlier this week a 31-year-old man from M’Chigeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with first degree murder, adding he has been remanded into custody.

She adds five people, all from southern Ontario, a 20-year-old from Newmarket, a 20-year-old from Brampton, a 21-year-old from Brampton, a 26-year-old from Markham and a 30-year-old from Scarborough, were also charged with first degree murder last April.

Gilbertson adds the investigation is ongoing and anyone who has any information can contact police or anonymously through Rainbow Crimestoppers.
