Rainbow Board and CUPE reach tentative local agreement

Rainbow District School Board and the union representing its cleaners, custodians and trades employees in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island have reached a tentative agreement at the local level.
Board chair, Bob Clement, says the tentative deal will be presented to members of the local for ratification.

CUPE president  of Local 895, Rob Lisi says the tentative deal is being recommended for acceptance by the negotiating team and, after that, it will be up to board trustees to ratify it.

Lisi adds if ratified it will be retroactive from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2026 aligning with the provincial settlement.

Clement points out this is the first employee group within the board to achieve a new collective agreement locally in line with the deal reached provincially with other locals.

Contracts with all employee groups expired last August.
