$100K donation made to health network to extend family legacy

A long-time North Shore business is continuing the family legacy of supporting local health care with a substantial donation of $100,000 to the North Shore Health Network Foundation.

Don and Heidi Lees made the donation to the foundation this week to go towards new equipment for the Blind River hospital site.

Don says his father, Don Senior established the family-run business Milltown Motors in 1962 and his father took a leading role in having the hospital built in Blind River.

He adds with the donation, their family is extending the legacy created by his father so many years ago.

Joanne Falk, chair of the foundation board, says community support is vital in securing much-needed funding for equipment and patient services, and is grateful to the Lees family for their generosity.

She adds the money will assist in replacing or purchasing equipment as part of the network of care provided to the Blind River, Thessalon and St. Joseph Island sites.
