Like other communities, Elliot Lake has had concerns about doctor shortages, but fortunately a new physician has begun his practice in the city.
After months of work, the Elliot Lake Physician Recruitment Committee and St. Joseph’s General Hospital announced this week that Dr. Adeel Amir will practice family medicine in the city.
Elliot Lake Health Team executive director Nancy Ewen (YEW-en) says he is graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and has been a practicing physician for the last three years.
She adds Dr. Amir will be seeing patients with the Team, assist in the hospital emergency department and work with the Oaks Rehabilitation Centre.
Ewen also thanked local recruitment support including the city, Retirement Living and ELNOS.
