Hydro One concerns raised by Elliot Lake ski hill operator

Mount Dufour’s long-time operations manager in Elliot Lake says Hydro One must step up in upgrading the power lines that feed several businesses and the ski operation.

Dave Brunet says the hydro corridor of poles has suffered several brownouts over the last several years but has yet to get a satisfactory response or action from Hydro One.

He says Hydro One has said they are working on trimming trees and eventually upgrading power lines, but Brunet says the situation needs immediate attention with the hill now undertaking snow-making operations for its upcoming season.

He says if the brownouts continue, they could lose major equipment which could lead to the ski hill shutting down for good.

Brunet says Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha is now looking into the concerns.

Hydro One has yet to respond to inquiries about Brunet’s concerns.
