Elliot Lake Retirement Living has handed out is annual grant to several Elliot Lake and area clubs and organizations.
Heather Goulding, one of the managers says the Grant Review Committee was kept busy this year having received several applications to review to decide how to distribute the $35,000 they had available.
Goulding adds they are proud of being able to help with a variety of projects including a local music club that needed a cabinet for its musical instruments, a lift for the Renaissance Centre as well as insulated food carriers for the community kitchen, and so much more.
This year’s recipients are:
- The Elliot Lake Snowbirds Snowmobile Club received $10,000 for a new warmup shack and furnace for their garage.
- The Wednesday Afternoon Guitarists received $260 for a cabinet for the group to store their sound equipment.
- DanceWorks received $2,600 for a portable roll down professional floor for the stage at the WH Collins Hall.
- The Elliot Lake Wood Carvers received $1,000 for the purchase portable dust collectors and other equipment for the club.
- The Coureurs de Bois Outdoors Club received $5,745 for the purchase of equipment, signage and training for the maintenance and enhancement of hiking trails.
- The Elliot Lake Aquatic Club (ELAC) received $1,800 for the purchase of a new starter for their timing system.
- The Renaissance Active Living Centre received $5,000 towards the purchase of a commercial portable platform lift, to improve the accessibility of the building.
- The Counselling Centre of East Algoma received $2,000 towards the purchase of insulated food carriers and other equipment for their community kitchen program.
- Elliot Lake Youth Slo-Pitch received $4,200 for new bats for the teen division.
