Tree of Lights kicks off hospital campaign

St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake was the scene of the annual lighting of the Tree of Lights on Sunday evening.

Deborah Dubois, the chair of the hospital’s foundations, says last year’s campaign raised $27,000 for the hospital replacing 54 beds.

This year, she says they will focus on raising $25,000 for the purchase of intensive care and emergency equipment.

Dubois says school choirs from both Lourdes and Fatima and the Jewel and Gents choir marked the ceremony, which also honoured community supporters Wendall Farquhar and Dan Dean who both passed away this year.

She adds donations can be made by contacting the foundation.

Lights can be purchased for $10 each or $25 for three lights; a tax-deductible receipt is available.

Donations can also be made at the hospital, local banks and online at www.sjhfound.com.
