New reporting system also focuses on flu

New online reporting of respiratory illnesses is now included in a new Respiratory Activity Report to Public Health Sudbury & District’s COVID-19 Risk Index to report on overall influenza activity in the region.

The medical officer of health, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe says with flu numbers rising, the public can now consult the report for information on confirmed influenza cases and outbreaks.

Dr. Sutcliffe explains the Ontario Respiratory Pathogen Bulletin has four new local influenza activity levels: green or no activity, yellow or sporadic activity, orange, or localized activity, and red or widespread activity.

She adds Public Health recommends everyone over six months of age get the flu shot and/or other boosters including those for COVID to help keep themselves and their community healthy.
