Rainbow Schools challenged to reduce harmful plastic pollution

Students in Rainbow schools will be looking at ways to reduce their use of plastics, not only at lunch but also through lesson plans and other classroom challenges.

Bob Bourget, the board’s education director says every month the Environmental Committee issues a challenge to staff and students dealing with different climate and environmental issues.

He says plastic pollution has become of prime importance, so students will be looking at different ways to reduce their plastic footprint adding one of the simplest ways is avoiding any plastic products such as straws, cutlery, and beverage containers.

Schools will also host waste-free events and friendly competitions throughout December.
