Arson and other charges have been laid against a resident of Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.
Constable John Hill with the Manitoulin OPP says police responded to a fire outside a River Street property in the township around 10:30 on Sunday night.
He says a structure on the property had been damaged by fire and an individual had also been assaulted and harassed.
A 48-year-old resident of the township was arrested and charged with arson, spousal assault, sexual assault, and harassing communications.
Hill adds the person attended bail court, was denied, and remains in police custody. He says the name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
