Visitor restrictions remain in place despite the end of the COVID outbreak at Elliot Lake hospital

St. Joseph’s General Hospital’s COVID-19 outbreak in acute care has been declared over, but many
visitor restrictions will remain in place.
Hospital CEO Jeremy Stevenson says Algoma Public Health declared the outbreak over on November 3rd, but with COVID-19 being prevalent in the region, many of the visitor restrictions will remain in place.
He says, for this reason, the hospital will remain closed to visitors until further notice, with exceptions for designated Essential Care Partners, required Support Persons, and for compassionate circumstances.
He adds the public has a virtual connections program, where those who cannot enter the facility can set
up a virtual visit between 10 am and 9 pm any day by calling the appropriate hospital ward to set up a
visit remotely.
