Rainbow Schools take part in Take Our Kids to Work

Grade 9 students in Rainbow Schools are getting the chance to learn about the world of work this week.

They will be spending the day on Wednesday, Nov. 2 shadowing a parent, relative, or volunteer host at work.

It’s part of the 28th annual national Take Our Kids to Work program that helps youth explore possible career paths.

“On Take Our Kids to Work Day, students have an opportunity to make connections between the classroom and the world of work,” says Bruce Bourget, Director of Education for Rainbow District School Board. “This reinforces the importance of working hard and completing a secondary school diploma.”

Across the country, over 200,000 Grade 9 students and some 75,000 businesses and organizations take part in the program each year.

The Learning Partnership began the program in Ontario in 1994, and has since expanded to reach students in all provinces and territories.

The school board says all Grade 9 students will receive Workplace Health and Safety awareness training in preparation for their day in the world of work.
