NDP MPPs write to Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission

Several New Democrat MPPs are calling for fair electoral representation for northern Ontario residents.

The list includes Algoma-Manitoulin’s Michael Mantha, Nickel Belt’s France Gélinas and Sudbury’s Jamie West.

They’re asking the Ontario Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission to reconsider a proposed electoral boundary change that they say would diminish representation of Northern Ontarians in Parliament, including those of Indigenous Peoples and Franco-Ontarians.

In a letter to  Commission last week, the MPPs said that the proposed federal boundary change would also have a negative impact on regional development, the provision of local services and more.
