First Nations and social services deliverers sign memorandum

A First Nation association has signed a memorandum of understanding with another one to commit to consulting each other on legislative policy and problematic areas when it comes to social services.

Ontario Native Welfare Administrators Association President Samantha Maracle and Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association Chair Michelle Boileau signed the memorandum of understanding on October 3rd at the native association’s board meeting in Toronto.

According to the release, the native association provides services to First Nation Social Service Administrators in the province while the service deliverers association was formed to develop a cooperative and collaborative approach with municipalities and other organizations for the delivery of services in Northern Ontario.

The agreement is another step forward in ensuring the proper delivery of social services working with both First Nations and non-native municipalities.
