Santa is booked for Espanola’s Stationary Parade

The Town is excited to be coordinating a stationary parade once again this year to mark the start of holiday festivities this December. “Last year’s stationary parade was well attended,” said Mayor Beer, “Although we hope to one day return to a traditional parade, after consulting with our community partners, the stationary is our best option for this year once again.” The municipality will offer a free bus sponsored by Veterans Transport as well as the Care Van for seniors.
A stationary parade disperses floats and or displays throughout the community. A map of the float sites will be published and families can either walk or drive by the floats between 7:00 to 9:00pm on Saturday November 26th. Santa’s float on Jean Street will actually be set up for 6:30pm to get a head start and mitigate traffic.
Local businesses are encouraged to set up their floats or displays at their businesses and not-for profit groups are asked to set up in front of their organizations. Anyone unable to find a location to park their float or position their display is encouraged to call the Recreation Department for assistance.
As in previous years, registration is free and prizes will be awarded in the categories of Best Business, Best Community Spirit & Judges Choice. The deadline for registration is November 9th. Registration forms are available at espanola.ca, the Town Office and Recreation Complex.
