Manitoulin OPP arrest four people in drug bust

The execution of a search warrant on M’Chigeeng First Nation has led to the arrest of four people on various breach and drug charges.

Manitoulin OPP Constable Jessica Gilbertson says a home in M’Chigeeng was searched on Monday where police seized an estimated $29,000 in suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl as well as over $1,000 in cash.

She says three individuals from the first nation, a 24-year-old man, and two women, 19 and 23 years of age, are facing various charges ranging from breach to possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Gilbertson adds a youth, 17 years of age, from North York is also facing possession charges.

She says all four are to appear in Gore Bay court on October 26th.

The charges are as follows:

A 24-year-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation was charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

A 17-year-old from North York was charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) CDSA

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Other than Heroin) contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5, 000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC

A 19-year-old woman from M’Chigeeng First Nation was charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) CDSA

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Other than Heroin) contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5, 000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC

Failure to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(4)(a) CC

A 23-year-old woman from M’Chigeeng First Nation was charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) CDSA

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Other than Heroin) contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5, 000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC

Failure to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(4)(a) CC
