Driver facing multiple charges following single car collision on Highway Six

Manitoulin OPP says a Hamilton man is facing several drug-related and theft charges following a single
car collision which shut down traffic for several hours on Highway Six back on July 31st, Haweater
Sunday.
Constable Tessa Kasch says a man was extricated from a vehicle following a single motor vehicle collision
into a rock cut with the driver being flown out by Air ORNGE to a hospital in Sudbury.
She says the highway, the only way off and on Manitoulin Island, had to be shut down for several hours
on what is considered one of the busiest tourist weekends of the year for the Island.
She says following the investigation, it was revealed the vehicle and licence plates were stolen with
suspected drugs found in the car.
Kasch says the driver, a 27-year-old from Hamilton, is now facing several charges including possession
of stolen property and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
She says the accused is to appear in Espanola court on September 12th .
The 27-years-old from Hamilton was charged with:
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Heroin, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine,
contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
· Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
· Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available, contrary to section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act 2017
