Manitoulin Health Centre celebrates accreditation with Commendation

The Manitoulin Health Centre has surpassed the fundamental requirements of the accreditation program with Accreditation Canada.

President and CEO Paula Fields says the centre, which oversees two sites, one in Little Current, the other in Mindemoya, has been designated as Accredited with Commendation, a designation awarded to organizations that have gone above and beyond the already high standards Accreditation Canada sets, demonstrating an exemplary commitment to delivering quality care.

She adds the decision followed an on-site survey in June as part of an ongoing accreditation process.

Fields says the accreditation process is very extensive in which all programs, staff, partners and volunteers work on policies, engagement and implementation of programs.

She says everyone worked incredibly hard to provide the Manitoulin community with health care services that are safe, effective and of the highest quality.

Fields says the board is especially proud of the commendation recognizing the work carried out at both sites overseen by the centre.
