Inquest called into the death of Glencore miner in Sudbury

An inquest into the death of a miner at Glencore’s Nickel Rim South Mine in Sudbury will be held at the end of August.

Dr. Harry Voogjarv, the Regional Supervising Coroner for the North Region says the inquest will investigate the death of 54-year-old Rick Pigeau (PEE-joe) who died on October 20th, 2015.

The Ministry of Labour reported at the time of his death that Pigeau died when he was run over by the vehicle that he was operating at the time.

Fourteen witnesses are expected to be called to the inquest which opens in Sudbury Court on August 29th.
