Police respond to drowning at Chutes Provincial Park

OPP and several other agencies took part in the search of a drowning victim in Chutes Provincial Park over the weekend.

Manitoulin OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were on the scene with several other agencies on Saturday to investigate a drowning.

Constable Tessa Kasch says on Saturday, June 25th, shortly after 4:30 p.m. police responded to a report a possible drowning at Chutes Provincial Park.

She says the investigation determined that the individual was swimming with friends and failed to resurface.
Kasch adds the unit arrived on the scene on Sunday and recovered the man, 35-year-old Corey Assiniwe of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. O

She adds the coroner’s office is now investigating the drowning with a post-mortem to take place in Sudbury.
