Elliot Lake Food Bank struggling

With shortages of various food products and with food prices and transportation costs increasing, the Elliot Lake Foodbank is struggling to keep its shelves stocked up.

According to spokesperson Len Kutchaw, when the covid pandemic hit and everything shut down, the food bank was advised that they could not order in bulk from local stores, so bulk items were ordered from southern Ontario leading to higher costs.

To that end, the organization needs more financial support to ensure that it can continue to stock the shelves.

Kutchaw says the food bank is helping some 210 families and individuals every month.
