New women’s only group established in Elliot Lake

Women Alive, a new women’s only social group in Elliot Lake is up and running, thanks to the work of local business owner Pat Henderson.

She says her vision is to actively build an inclusive community for all women after being inspired by talking to new women in the community who were looking for supports and wanting to talk to others who understand their issues.

Henderson emphasizes the group is all inclusive and has no connection with any religious or other affiliations.

She says the group will meet once a month with guest speakers, musicians and various activities to take part in.

Women Alive meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 pm the Renaissance Centre.

Tickets are $10 each, including dessert and once the start-up costs are recovered, Henderson says they will donate monthly profits to a local charity.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event starts sharply at 7 p.m. A monthly door prize draw will also take place.

To purchase tickets, be a guest speaker/performer, volunteer or donate, call Pat Henderson at (705)261-0656 or visit her at The Knitting Room (705) 578-2630.
