Elliot Lake Historical Society begins incorporation process

A new group, the Elliot Lake Historical Society has taken the first steps to incorporation.

Some 30 supporters attended the inaugural meeting late last month with Elliot Lake lawyer Douglas Elliott offering to aid the group in preparing the incorporation documents for formal recognition through the Ontario Historical Society.

That process is expected to take until August, followed by a public meeting to outline the next steps including an annual general meeting and electing a board of governors.

For now, an interim board of local volunteers will oversee the incorporation process.

The interim board is made up of chairman Edo Ten Broek, vice-chair Marie Murphy-Foran, secretary/treasurer Geraldine Robinson, and directors at large Doug Souliere and Ed Pearce. For more information, or to join the group, call Ten Broek at 705-461-3616 or 705-849-8106.
