Ottawa man charged following altercation with town staffer

East Algoma OPP has charged an Ottawa man following an altercation with a town employee at a municipal property on Causley Street in Blind River.

Constable Bev Gauthier says Monday morning around eight am, the town employee arrived on site to find someone had set up a campsite on the municipal property adjacent to the local information office.

She says when the employee asked him to leave, he refused, and police were called.

Gauthier says the man refused to leave when asked by police and was arrested and charged the 53-year-old with mischief, obstruction of a peace officer and trespassing.

She adds the man is to appear in Elliot Lake court on July 7th.
