New Horizons Funding supports seniors on Manitoulin Island

Several communities on Manitoulin Island will be investing in senior programming, thanks to New Horizons funding from the federal government.

The Township of Assiginack will receive $19,400 for a pickleball program while the Township of Tekhummah will use just over $17,000 for healthy snacks and fitness equipment geared to seniors.

The NEMI Public Library is receiving $25,000 for its COMPASS program to develop a virtual reality system and book program while the Silver Water Recreation Centre received over $16,000 for upgrading the community hall and purchasing digital and internet service to provide digital training to seniors.

The Whitefish River First Nation is also receiving $25,000 for its Elders Good Life of Living Program geared to workshops and lifestyle mentoring.
