Manitoulin Island school wins cleanup challenge

A Manitoulin Island school has moved one step closer to getting its EcoSchools Certificate.

According to the release, Little Current Public School, part of the Rainbow District School Board, has won the School Cleanup Award for the Island-wide initiative.

The students and staff stuffed 53 bags of garbage from local roadsides during Earth Day.

The board extended congratulations to the school community for a job well done, adding the initiative is a major step in being officially recognized as an EcoSchool, a national initiative to engage students and staff in being environmentally aware.

The national initiative lays out different programs as part of its work with more information to be found at https://ecoschools.ca/
