Killeen officially named new UCCM Chief of Police in M’Chigeeng

An officer working in an acting role over the last year has now been officially sworn in as Chief of Police for the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police on Manitoulin Island.

James Killeen was named acting chief a year ago to oversee policing throughout the First Nations on the Island.

Killens says in 1997, he completed his training to be a constable and joined the then Sudbury Regional Police, now known as the Greater Sudbury Police Service, but he was placed in a hiring pool.

He adds when the opportunity came up to police on the Island, he decided to make the move.

The UCCM hosted the swearing-in held earlier this month to welcome him to his new position.
