Farmers market set to go in Elliot Lake

A local market featuring farm produce and homemade goods is set for the end of the month in Elliot Lake.

Organizer Deborah Lang says the new market will open on Sunday, May 29th at the Bingo Plus building on Dunn Road and will run every Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm throughout the summer months.

She says there is also space inside adding she already has 25 vendors booked for the grand opening with many of them planning to attend throughout the season.

She adds musicians are also welcomed to provide entertainment and there will also be barbecues on various days to raise funds for local charities including the Society of Animals in Distress, Larry’s Place, Special Olympics and others.

The cost to rent a table will be $30.

Lang will also be contacting the high school with hopes that students are still looking for community hours and volunteers are needed to help vendors set up and take down their displays each week.

She adds she is also applying to Elliot Lake Retirement Living’s grant program for some financial assistance in covering costs.

Anyone looking for more information on being a vendor, performer or volunteer can contact Deborah Lang at (705) 827-0128.
