Dispute with a bat results in charges

East Algoma OPP has arrested an Elliot Lake man following an altercation involving a bat.

Constable Phil Young says on Tuesday afternoon, officers were called out to a dispute at an Ottawa Avenue residence.

He says the complainant reported two people were arguing in the front yard and one person allegedly struck the other in the leg with a bat, and then fled the scene in a pickup truck.

Young adds other property was also damaged during the encounter.

He says a 60-year-old man from Elliot Lake has been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, break and enter and mischief under $5,000.

He adds the accused is to appear in Elliot Lake court on July 5th.
