The golden elixir of Spring has helped a great cause at the same time.
Travis Dewar of Manitoulin Island says his family held a sweet fundraiser once again this year to assist people in their fight against cancer.
Dewar says the 8th Annual Dewar Family Syrup auction was held last week auctioning off one litre of their syrup with the money going to the Northern Cancer Foundation.
He says the winning bid came in at $1,200 but with the addition of a matched donation from an anonymous donor, this year’s event raised over $2,400 with more money coming in.
Dewer adds the family has now successfully raised over $12,000 over the last eight years and thanks to everyone for their support.
