Some Westview Park playground equipment being moved due to noise complaints – other new pieces being installed

UPDATE; Councillor Tom Turner has informed the Moose only two pieces of equipment are being moved out of the park and five more new pieces are being brought in to augment the amenity.

Elliot Lake council has decided to move a playground geared to autistic children following numerous noise complaints.

Council discussed the features of Westview Park which has playground equipment that emits various sounds to engage with the children.

However, abuse by vandals who would often create noise that would disturb the sleep of nearby residents led to persistent complaints that something had to be done.

Council looked at various locations throughout the city and has decided to move the equipment to the Elliot Lake Lookout tower area.

Councillor Sandy Finamore did not agree with the move noting that the city’s buses do not access the site, which will limit users.
