School buses cancelled in Sudbury/Manitoulin Districts, still running in parts of Algoma, heavy rain and wind warnings

Due to poor road conditions, all school buses in the Manitoulin and Sudbury Districts are cancelled today.
Due to the adverse weather and icy road conditions, all buses are also cancelled today for all boards in the Blind River Area (Iron Bridge, Blind River, and Spanish) and buses continue to run in Elliot Lake.
All schools are open with the exception of Biidahban in Sagamok and schools and the hub centre in Wiikwemkoong.
Parents who transport their children to school are reminded that they must pick their children up at the end of the school day.
All staff is expected to report to work.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Elliot Lake – Ranger Lake
  • Blind River – Thessalon
  • Espanola – Killarney
  • Manitoulin Island

Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected.
Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm.
This morning.
Rain is expected to taper off to showers or possibly change over to flurries this afternoon.

A strong wind warning is also in place for the Manitoulin Island and North Shore-Espanola area — expected to lighten up later this afternoon.
